Opis produktu

High-Performance Metallic Substrate for Advanced Emission Control

The Metallic Substrate represents a premium alternative to traditional ceramic structures in catalytic converter technology. Engineered from ultra-thin, heat-resistant stainless steel foils, it serves as an exceptionally durable core for washcoat and precious metal catalyst deposition. This advanced design ensures maximum exhaust flow efficiency while delivering superior mechanical resilience in demanding thermal environments.

Introduction & Usage

Composed of corrugated metallic foils stacked or rolled together, the GRACE metallic substrate provides a rigid yet flexible internal framework for exhaust gas treatment. It is widely deployed across specialized high-performance and heavy-duty industries where space is confined and backpressure must be minimized. Major applications include:

  1. High-Performance Automotive: Sports cars, tuning vehicles, and motorcycles requiring low backpressure.
  2. Industrial Gas Turbines: Downstream emission systems handling massive gas volumes.
  3. Heavy-Duty Non-Road Equipment: Mining machinery and earthmovers subjected to severe vibration.
  4. Small Engine Power: Lawn mowers, chainsaws, and portable emergency generators.

Technical Advantages

  1. Ultra-Low Backpressure: Thin foil walls (typically 0.03mm to 0.1mm) allow for a significantly higher open frontal area compared to ceramic alternatives, maintaining peak engine power.

  2. Rapid Thermal Response: The low thermal mass of the GRACE metallic body ensures a fast "light-off" time, drastically reducing cold-start emissions.

  3. Superior Mechanical Strength: Resistant to physical impacts, thermal shock cracking, and harsh road debris.

  4. Design Flexibility: Can be custom-formed into complex shapes (conical, oval, rectangular) to fit tightly packed engine bays.

Production Process Flow

Foil Corrugation: High-grade alloy foils are passed through precision gears to create corrugated waves.

Interlocking & Rolling: Flat and corrugated foils are layered and wound tightly into the desired core shape.

Vacuum Brazing: The wound core is welded to its outer metallic shell in a high-temperature vacuum furnace for ultimate structural bond.

Catalytic Coating: The GRACE active catalyst washcoat is applied to the interior channels.

Operation & Maintenance

The metallic substrate operates automatically within the exhaust system. To ensure maximum longevity, avoid raw fuel entering the exhaust stream (misfires), which can cause localized overheating and melt the internal structure. Periodically inspect the external shell housing for physical impact damage or weld cracks.

After-Sales & FAQ

Q: Can a metallic substrate break like a ceramic honeycomb? No. Unlike brittle ceramic substrates, the alloy foil construction cannot shatter, crack, or disintegrate due to thermal shock or mechanical vibration.

Q: Are metallic substrates recyclable? Yes. At the end of its lifecycle, the valuable Fe-Cr-Al alloy scrap and coated active metals can be fully reclaimed and recycled through specialized metallurgical facilities.

Service Support: We provide comprehensive customization services, technical engineering consulting, and backpressure simulation testing to optimize your exhaust configuration.
